About Jaimini Jethwa

With over twenty years of experience across the UK and internationally including projects in Uganda, India, China, and Sweden Jaimini Productions is a leading voice in contemporary Scottish stage and screen.
A graduate of the University of Westminster (BA Hons, Film and Photographic Arts) and the Northern Film School (MA PgDip, Screenwriting), I first gained industry recognition with my degree film, Another Saturday Night, starring Stephen Graham. As a member of BBC Scottish Voices, I have been shortlisted for numerous prestigious accolades, including the BBC Comedy Collective, BBC Radio Drama, and the BBC INTERCONNECTED initiative, a live performer at The Stand Comedy Club, and my contributions to the Scots earned a nomination for Scots Writer of the Year 2022 at the Scots Language Awards.
Dedicated to “Art for Social Change,” my documentary work has received international acclaim, including the award for Best Short Documentary at the SEE ME Film Festival for Stigmadies. Currently a part of the Channel 4 New Writers Scheme (2026) and the WFTV Screenwriting Lab, continues to produce transformative work that bridges the gap between professional artistry and community empowerment.
Since then, my work has spanned prestigious platforms including National Theatre Scotland, The Royal Lyceum, and Dundee Rep. My acclaimed play, Last Queen of Scotland, was a sell-out success at the Edinburgh Fringe.

My second play, ‘Hindu Times’, was produced with the Royal Lyceum and Dundee Rep, and featured in The Guardian.
The play was widely celebrated for its “ribald and swaggering” energy, blending spiritual depth with the gritty reality of Dundee street life.

Hindu Times: A Modern Scottish Classic
Following the landmark success of Last Queen of Scotland, My second major play, Hindu Times. Produced by The Royal Lyceum in partnership with Dundee Rep and Stellar Quines, the play was a centerpiece of the Edinburgh International Festival Soundstage.
Critical Acclaim & Cultural Impact:
Featured in The Guardian: Recognised for its bold storytelling and vibrant characters, the play received national coverage, highlighting my ability to weave spiritual themes with gritty, modern Scottish life. Innovative Production: Originally premiered as a digital-audio experience during the pandemic, it pushed the boundaries of “theatre for the ear,” garnering praise for its immersive soundscapes and poetic dialogue.
